Middle Kingdom Granite/Antique Stone pots |
These hand carved stone cattle feed troughs from the Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and Hunan provinces of China are estimated to be at least 300 to 400 years old. Made from Oolitic Limestone or fossiliferous Crinoid Marble found locally in these adjoining provinces and despite being heavy are soft enough to have been carved by hand. The troughs have been worn smooth over many years by cattle feeding.
